SEEBF provides an expert Project Assessment Panel for SITA Trust's Enriching Nature programme, and WREN's Biodiversity Action Fund in the South East. The panel advises on all applications and how they help meet the region's biodiversity objectives.
SITA 'Enriching Nature' Programme
SITA Trust is responsible for distributing funding through the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme, in partnership with the nine regional biodiversity fora. £13.5M is available for biodiversity projects in England, over the next three years, through the Enriching Nature Programme.
Each region receives £500,000 per year towards projects designed to support the recovery of species and habitats identified as a priority in national and regional biodiversity action plans. Each Forum has set up a project appraisal panel that assesses each application and makes recommendations for funding to the SITA Board.
Funding can be provided for biodiversity projects around any licensed and registered landfill site in England.
More detailed information on applying for this funding is available on the SITA Trust website

WREN's Biodiversity Action Fund (BAF)
WREN's Biodiversity Action Fund (BAF) is an annual programme of funding designed to deliver projects under Object DA of the Landfill Communities Fund. It will provide up to £10m spread over 5 years to fund biodiversity enhancements by supporting the expansion, recovery and conservation of habitats that achieve Habitat Action Plan/Species Action Plan targets through specific improvements.
Projects must be sited at clearly identified site(s) within 10 miles of any licensed landfill site in WREN's operating areas.
-
A project's primary intent must relate to specific improvements to a site to aid the conservation of a priority habitat to help achieve national, regional or local biodiversity targets. Projects which involve research, survey and monitoring work and educational elements may be funded but only where there is a clear intent that this work will lead to actual conservation improvements.
-
Grants of between £75,000 and £250,000 are available and projects can last for up to 5 years.
-
WREN should be the significant funder of your project. WREN will consider 100% funding of eligible costs
